One day, princess Sita saw a wounded deer in the woods, and she begged Rama to go and help it. Rama drew a circle in the ground and said to her ”This is a magic circle. So long as you stay inside it, no harm can come to you.” That night, the princess heard a horrible cry. Thinking it was her beloved Rama in danger, the princess ran from the circle to answer the cry. She soon came across an old beggar man. Although she had no money to give him, she could not refuse his plea. As soon as he had the bracelet, he transformed into the ten-headed demon, Ravana. He grabs her and takes her to his palace, where he intends to make her his bride.

The evil Ravana locked the princess up in his tower. There she stayed for many weeks, just staring out her window, missing her Prince Rama terribly.

This movie was my childhood right here. ♥

I need to know where this is from.

it’s a short bit from The Little Princess

Yesss what is with all my fave movies showing up on my dash? First Brandy!Cinderella, now this?

God, I love this movie.

THIS MOVIE. <3333

…And eventually her prince came to save the day with a mighty army of vanara, but Rama doubted that she had stayed pure while waiting for him. The dutiful Sita underwent a trial of fire, and passed with flying colours. But then the people of his kingdom doubted their queen had been pure, so instead of standing up for her Rama banished her to the forest…

Rama was bound by dharma, yes. But I’m still going to sit here facepalming over it.

(Also where is Lakshman in all this, yo?)

I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS TOO AND IF I EXPRESSED THEM I WOULD BRING THE WRATH OF THE GODS ON MY HEAD AND GO TO ETERNAL HELL. >:|

Rather than take the shame of being accused of sluttitude, Sita prayed to the earth to swallow her up right then - and it did. She committed suicide because her shit of a husband decided she was “impure”, whatever the fuck that means. Probably a metaphor for having been raped.

You know the worst thing? Praying to get a man like Rama is cultural tradition because apparently he didn’t cheat on Sita during the time she was away. Big fucking whoop. So being a victim-blaming shithead is an acceptable substitute for fidelity.
